Terms of Service

1. About CoachIQ

CoachIQ ("the Service," "we," "us") is a web-based coaching platform designed to help volunteer youth basketball coaches build rosters, create practice plans, and prepare for games. The Service is operated independently and is not affiliated with any school, league, or governing sports body.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. CoachIQ is intended for use by adult coaches managing youth sports teams. By registering, you represent that you are an adult with appropriate authorization to work with the youth athletes whose information you enter into the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of CoachIQ complies with any requirements set by your school, league, or organization — including any policies regarding data handling for minors.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when creating your account
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access
• Not share your account with others
• Not create multiple accounts to circumvent any limitations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Permitted Use

CoachIQ is provided for legitimate youth sports coaching purposes. You may use the Service to:

• Create and manage team rosters for youth sports teams (grades 1–8) across supported sports
• Generate and save practice plans
• Log game notes and post-game reflections
• Collaborate with co-coaches on shared teams
• Share practice plans with other CoachIQ coaches

You may not use CoachIQ to:

• Enter information about players without appropriate authorization from guardians or your organization
• Harass, intimidate, or harm any individual
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the Service
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent

5. Player Data and Minor Athletes

CoachIQ allows coaches to enter roster information about youth athletes, including player names and jersey numbers. By entering this data, you represent that:

• You have appropriate authority as a coach or team administrator to maintain this information
• You will use this data solely for legitimate coaching and team management purposes
• You will not enter sensitive personal information about players beyond what is needed for coaching (e.g., do not enter home addresses, medical information, or financial data)

CoachIQ does not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. Player data entered by coaches is stored on behalf of those coaches and is governed by our Privacy Policy.

6. AI-Powered Features

CoachIQ includes AI-assisted practice plan recommendations powered by Anthropic's Claude AI. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

• AI recommendations are suggestions only — you retain full responsibility for all coaching decisions
• Practice history, coaching notes, and team context you provide are sent to our AI server to generate recommendations
• AI outputs may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable — always apply your own judgment
• We do not guarantee the fitness of AI-generated content for any particular team or skill level

7. Drill Library Content and Disclaimers

CoachIQ includes a library of drills and practice activities ("Drill Content") spanning multiple youth sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and volleyball. The Drill Content was developed using research drawn from the official coaching resources of recognized governing sports organizations and assembled with the assistance of AI tools as instructional reference material.

By using the Drill Content, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Drill Content is provided for informational and instructional purposes only. It is intended as a starting point for coaches, not a definitive or prescriptive coaching program.
• You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of any drill for your team. Factors including player age, physical development, skill level, available space, equipment, and local league rules may affect whether a drill is appropriate. Always apply your own professional judgment before using any drill with athletes.
• AI-assisted content may contain errors. Despite our best efforts to research and validate drill content, AI tools can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable output. CoachIQ does not warrant that any drill is medically safe, developmentally appropriate, or consistent with the official guidance of any specific organization.
• CoachIQ is not affiliated with any governing sports body. References to organizations such as USA Basketball, US Soccer Federation, USA Softball, USA Baseball, USA Volleyball, or their affiliated programs are for attribution purposes only and do not imply endorsement or partnership.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CoachIQ and its operators expressly disclaim all liability for any injury, harm, or adverse outcome arising from the use of, reliance upon, or misapplication of any drill, practice plan, or coaching recommendation provided through the Service. This includes but is not limited to physical injury to athletes, liability arising from drills that are not suitable for a particular age group or skill level, and any consequence of deviating from official coaching guidelines.

CoachIQ indemnifies itself from any claim, loss, or liability resulting from a coach's decision to use, modify, or implement any Drill Content in a manner inconsistent with sound coaching practice or the specific needs of their team.

8. Your Content and Data Ownership

You retain ownership of all practice plans, coaching notes, roster data, and other content you create in CoachIQ ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you.

We do not sell Your Content, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may export or delete Your Content at any time from the Settings page.

9. Practice Sharing

When you share a practice plan using CoachIQ's sharing feature, you grant the recipient a non-exclusive right to import and use that plan for their own coaching purposes. You represent that you have the right to share any content you distribute through this feature. Shared practice links may be accessed by anyone who has the link; do not include sensitive information in practice plans you intend to share.

10. Service Availability

CoachIQ is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and the Service may be updated, modified, or temporarily unavailable without notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime or service interruptions.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR USE CASE.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COACHIQ AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, COACHING OUTCOMES, OR RELIANCE ON AI-GENERATED RECOMMENDATIONS.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed $100 USD.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CoachIQ and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your use of the Service, your entry of player data without appropriate authorization, or your use or misuse of any drill, practice plan, or coaching recommendation provided through the Service.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of CoachIQ after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with or without prior notice. Upon termination, your data will be retained for up to 30 days before deletion, giving you time to export.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Marion County, Indiana.
